  • LA (Ache)rs Pt. 1

I think I promised a rant about the LA Lakers, if not you’re going to see one anyways. Where should I start, with Kobe, Dwight, Pau, or Metta??
I don’t like the Lakers, I don’t like Kobe, and I have never shown an interest in Dwight Howard. So LA isn’t doing too good right now and I am enjoying it to the max. Dwight Howard might be the most overrated center since ___________(enter a center before my time). A center who has no dominant move with their back to the basket shouldn’t be referred to as any sort of superman. He intimidates the lane on both ends, but he doesn’t dominate it like Shaq, Ewing, and Robinson did. I some times call him a “black hole” for any team that has him because he is a terrible interior passer, terrible short-range free throw shooter, and more than terrible free throw shooter. He can’t be relied on in late game situations due to those issues of his game. Maybe I am a hater but I just don’t see him as an efficient basketball player(if you aren’t blinded by his 20/20 games). I also think Kobe is their second “black hole” but for many reasons….

  • Interesting Teams of the NBA for 2012-2013

Tonight will be the season opener for the NBA and I could not be any happier! There are so many teams that I am interested in, not particular cheering for them but I just want to see how certain teams turn out (for better or worse).
The first team I am excited to see play this year has to be the Minnesota Timberwolves! Kevin Love is the best at his position and I think he will edge out Tim Duncan as the all-time best power-forward, he certainly is on pace. Timberwolves picked up three key players that will not only get them into the playoffs but will make them contenders for the Western Conference Championship. The first acquired player was Andre Kirlinko, who has found his “swag” when he went back to Europe to play. He showed why he use to be talked about when he showed up and lead the Russian Olympic team. The second pick-up for the timberwolves was Alexey Shved, who also played on the Russian Olympic team this past summer. This kid is young and has a lot to learn being his first year in the NBA, but him being 6-6 at the PG position he has a bright future especially after seeing him show his clutch gene during the 3rd place game at the Olympics. Their third acquisition was BRANDON ROY! Yeah we all know he retired last year, but that was until our modern medicine/science had something to do with it. Brandon has degenerative knees, but he took a year off and had surgery to help get him back into the NBA. He was one of the top upcoming guards in the league, no doubt. I think the timberwolves did a great job giving him a shot again, and why wouldn’t you, he could come back and dominate the way he shoulda been!
I will continue later on what other teams I find interest in for this upcoming season…. Maybe I’ll talk about the Lakers next, then again I’m not a big Kobe Bryant or Dwight Howard fan.

  • Harden to Rockets!?!?!

James Harden now gets a team that will set his career into a superstar era for him. OKC made him a dependable bench player that could go off for 20+. Now, Houston will treat him like the dependable superstar that he is suppose to be. This is a huge move in Harden’s future but might be a little to early for him to really excel. He will have a great year but I feel he will not live up to expectations to keep his team competing in the West! This will make Harden’s era of being a superstar a little quicker on track. I can’t wait for the season to start, and to see all the interesting new teams!

  • NBA reaching popularity-peak due to Science?!?!

The NBA is reaching its highest popularity since the turn of the century and I think it’s due to modern science. The careers of superstars have been elongated because of the modern science in injury prevention and injury solutions. Players, like Kobe Bryant, are playing at an elite level, years past their prime. With careers lasting longer, super stars are being stockpiled on teams which makes for some great basketball! Who doesn’t want to see 5 all-stars on a team(OKC, LAC, MIA, etc.)? It’s only leading to better basketball and better competitive nature on owners! Owners have to make some great moves only in hope to bring together the next Big 3,4,5,6?
Also the developmental-skill programs for younger players are so highly effective in speeding up the process of producing players into superstars. The NBA right now is reaching a peak and its not stopping! #NBA #basketball #science #injury

  • A nike fuelband would be a great way to track students’ physical activity outside of the physical education classroom. It would be equivalent to homework. Not saying the kids have to reach a certain goal, but wearing it would make the kids aware of how physically active they are. #PE #education #technology #physicaleducation #nike
